Before the alleged shooter killed himself, police reported that five people were shot and hurt during a domestic quarrel at a home in Atlanta on Sunday morning.
A 3-year-old and a 15-year-old were among the five victims, said to Deputy Chief Charles Hampton, who spoke to the media. The five were all rushed to a hospital and are all reported to be in stable condition.
The alleged shooter, an 18-year-old, was discovered dead at the site from what “appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” Hampton said.
“There was some type of ongoing dispute — domestic in nature — inside the home this morning that escalated to the gunfire where the suspect shot all five victims and then shot himself,” Hampton told reporters.
The connection between the alleged shooter and the shooting victims was kept a secret by Hampton. He added there were two more kids at the house who weren’t hurt.
This is the most recent in a series of gunshots that occurred amid domestic conflicts over the weekend, according to Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum. According to him, one shooting included two family members arguing over unpaid rent, while the other involved two roommates.
“This is domestic violence where individuals use a gun to resolve a dispute,” Schierbaum said
