Authorities report that a female jail inmate in Kentucky died after trying to flee by jumping out of a moving car.
According to a press release issued by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday, Brianna Hollon, age 21, passed away on August 31, two days after the inmate from the Franklin County Regional Jail jumped from the car.
The Frankfort Police Department has said Hollon jumped out of the transport vehicle’s window. Jail deputies found Hollon before assisting police officers arrived, and she went to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
The coroner’s office ruled that the death was accidental and that several blunt force injuries were the root of the problem.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the jail have requested that Frankfort Police conduct a separate inquiry. Additional information regarding the circumstances of the escape attempt has not been made public.
