According to authorities, a guy who was recently found guilty of fatally stabbing his fiancée in front of her children escaped from a prison in a suburb of Philadelphia on Thursday.
Before 9 a.m., Danelo Cavalcante, 34, evaded security at the Chester County Prison in West Chester and was discovered over an hour later walking on a road close to the facility, according to authorities.
Cavalcante was found guilty of killing Deborah Brandao at her Schuylkill Township home in April 2021 by a jury in about 15 minutes. Deborah had been his girlfriend for two years. He was upset because she intended to discuss a murder allegation he was facing in his native Brazil, according to the prosecution.
He was awaiting transfer to a state jail after receiving a life sentence on August 22.
According to a news release from the Chester County District Attorney, Cavalcante is also wanted for a murder that occurred in Brazil in 2017.
He was reported by authorities as being 120 pounds (54 kilogrammes) and 5 feet (1.5 metres) tall. According to a photograph supplied by the county, he has wavy black hair and a moustache and beard that are both closely cropped.
A 6-mile (10-kilometer) radius around the prison has been informed, according to Ryan.
