Nine candidates have been approved by the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) Ahafo Regional Vetting Committee to participate in the area’s parliamentary primary. The date of the NDC parliamentary primaries is May 13, 2023.
However, two candidates were disqualified, according to Naaba Abdulai, the NDC’s deputy Ahafo regional treasurer and a member of the regional communications team, who made the announcement to the Ghana News Agency.
He said that the party’s National Executive Council had indefinitely postponed the screening of candidates for the Tano North constituency.
Former regional organizer Charles Kwaku Asiedu, Dr. Nana Agyemang Prempeh, David Kwasi Boanyo, and Usman Fakih Suallah are vying for the Tano South seat in parliament. The party’s 2020 Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Ebenezer Kwaku Addo, and Nana Osheei are the two candidates running in the Asutifi North primary.
After the committee disqualified Gregory Darkwa, Haruna Mohammed, the 2020 PC for Asunafo North, is running unopposed. Eric Opoku, the MP for Asunafo South, is also running unopposed after Christian Oppong Frimpong, his opponent, was also disqualified. Alhaji Collins Dauda, the MP for the Asutifi South constituency, had no challengers registered by the closure of nominations.
