Veteran Nollywood performer Patience Ozokwo has discussed the sacrifices her kids had to make for her career to succeed. After winning the Industry Merit Award at Saturday’s Africa Magic Viewers Choice Award (AMVCA), she shared this in a thank-you statement on her Instagram page.
The actress claimed that there were no social media platforms in her day, so she had to rely on her skills, modesty, people’s goodwill, and word of mouth.
At the AMVCA, she posted photos of her family, including her children and grandchildren, along with one of herself.
She expresses gratitude for her coworkers in the lengthy caption, many of whom put forth a lot of effort yet receive nothing in return.
She also gave thanks to her family for their unending love and support. She expressed particular gratitude to her children for having to stay for such a long time without their mother.
“I appreciate my colleagues who work tirelessly and often times without recognition.
I appreciate my family who have always surrounded me with love and acceptance. My children sacrificed a lot and stayed long periods without a mother,” she wrote.
The actress also disclosed that at some point in her professional life, her daughter worked for her as a personal assistant (PA) and associate manager.
