According to authorities, a guy from a Chicago suburb has been charged with murder and kidnapping in relation to the death of a 10-year-old child in Rockford.
After the girl’s 6-year-old sister told their mother that a man had kidnapped the two girls while they were playing outside, the girl was reported missing around noon on Saturday, according to Rockford police. According to press sources, the younger girl was successful in escaping.
Around 12:40 pm, authorities claimed, they discovered the older child outside a house unresponsive. She was brought to a hospital, where doctors declared her dead. On Monday, it was unclear just how the girl passed away. Her identity hasn’t been made public.
Antonio Monroe, 44, of Blue Island, who matched the suspect’s description was apprehended a short while later a block away, according to police.
Monroe was accused of two felony counts of kidnapping, one felony count of murder, one felony count of attempted murder, and one felony count of aggravated violence.
It wasn’t known if he has a lawyer who could respond to the accusations made against him.
