Chloe Mitchell’s remains were indeed those discovered in Ballymena earlier last month, according to the police.
On June 3, in the early hours, Ms. Mitchell, 21, was last seen in the Co. Antrim town on surveillance footage.
Her disappearance prompted a massive search operation.
A murder investigation was opened by detectives after presumed human remains were discovered on June 11.
Detective Chief Inspector Richard Millar said: “The identification process on human remains found in Ballymena has now concluded and have been confirmed as those of Chloe Mitchell.”
In Belfast and her hometown, vigils were conducted earlier this month to memorialise Ms. Mitchell.
On allegations related to Ms. Mitchell’s death, two men have appeared in court.
Ryan Johnston Gordon, 34, of Nursery Close in Ballymena is charged with aiding an offender, while Brandon John Rainey, 26, of James Street in Ballymena is charged with murder.
