Although gospel singer Piesie Esther lost the Artiste of the Year award at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to Black Sherif, she says she is not sad because Black Sherif put in a lot of effort during the year in question.
The Waye Meyie singer asserted that the eight artists who qualified for the Artiste of the Year category deserved it because they all performed admirably.
“I won’t lie Black Sherif and all the other artistes who made there worked harder and it could have gone for any of us.
Although the competition was tough between me and Black Sherif he won and I want to congratulate him on winning the ultimate” she told Graphic Showbiz.
Piesie Esther, who won Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel Artiste, was asked if she was happy with the awards she received that evening. Piesie Esther responded that she was extremely happy to have won these two awards for the first time in 20 years. “I have been doing music for the past 20 years and I have not had any of these awards so winning big today is an incredible thing for me and I am so excited.’
