Authorities report that Jason Billingsley, the suspect in the well-liked Baltimore tech CEO Pava LaPere’s murder, has been taken into custody.
Early on Thursday morning, the Baltimore Police Department informed USA TODAY of a development in the ongoing search for Billingsley. The police department has arranged a press conference for 11 a.m. to provide more information regarding his capture.
LaPere, 26, was reported missing on Monday and was discovered dead at her apartment complex about 11:30 a.m. ET, according to authorities. From blunt force trauma, she passed away.
Police named Billingsley as the suspect in the case on Tuesday and began a manhunt for the 32-year-old, whom they believed to be armed and in danger. In connection with the murder of LaPere, police also issued a warrant for his arrest on counts of first-degree murder, assault, and reckless endangerment.
Since 2009, when he was 18 years old, Billingsley has been found guilty of several crimes, including two assaults and a sex offence. According to the authorities, Billingsley is also under investigation for a rape, attempted murder, and arson that took place on September 19 in Baltimore.

According to Mark Vernarelli, a representative for the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, the Baltimore Police Department issued a warrant last week for Billingsley’s arrest for attempted murder, rape, arson, and other charges in connection with an incident that happened on September 19, according to USA TODAY.
