On Saturday night, Lionel Messi accomplished even another milestone as he assisted Paris Saint-Germain’s goal against Nice, giving him 1,000 club goal contributions overall.
On Saturday, Messi scored and provided an assist as PSG defeated Nice 2-0 in Ligue 1. His assistance for their second goal marked his 1,000th club career goal participation. Ironically, he assisted long time foe Sergio Ramos, who continues to team up with him for PSG.
Although it took him some time to get going in France, Messi appears to be back to his best. This season, in all leagues, he has tallied 19 goals and 18 assists, helping the Parisians secure the championship.
Of course, Messi’s heroics for Barcelona are the main cause of his absurd statistics. He set the record for the most goals scored by a single club during his career with the Blaugrana, scoring 672 during that time. Messi set a record by scoring 91 goals in 2012, more than any other player ever did in a single year.
PSG’s next Ligue 1 matchup is against Lens, and a victory would put them nine points ahead of Lens, who is presently in second place.
Regarding Messi’s professional future, it appears likely that he will leave PSG this summer and sign with Barcelona once more.
