Several days after failing to show up at the halfway home where he was residing, a man serving a jail term for assaulting and severely injuring his parents more than two decades ago is still missing as of Wednesday.
Edward Berbon, 54, has been employed in Mount Laurel since March and was assigned to a halfway house in Camden County, according to state correctional officials. He is now regarded as an escapee because he did not arrive back at the halfway house on Saturday.

Authorities claimed they lacked knowledge regarding whether he posed a threat to the neighbourhood.
In July 2004, just hours after being released from jail, Berbon, who had previously served prison terms for theft and robbery, attacked his parents at their home in Hamilton Township, Mercer County. It is yet unknown what motivated those attacks.
Both parents survived it.
