At Nungua in the Greater Accra Region, a 25-year-old woman is said to have been murdered by her husband.
During a fight with her husband, the deceased, whose name was only given as Eunice, sustained cutlass wounds.
The young woman reportedly passed away immediately following the attack. The defendant allegedly attacked his father-in-law as well.
Due to her husband’s verbal and physical abuse, Eunice had left the house.
In an interview with Dwaso Nsem on Tuesday’s morning broadcast of Adom FM as monitored by Ghent Multimedia, the deceased’s father, Ebenezer Dwomoh, stated that they are still in shock.
According to him, the incident happened when Eunice went to her husband’s home to deliver a summons letter from the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit.
Mr. Dwomoh said that his son-in-law was a habitual wife-beater who had evicted his daughter from the family home.
“Eunice moved out of the house because she could no longer take the beatings so this man decided to make life all living hell for her. He will even come to our house and beat her,” he lamented.
Mr. Dwomoh claimed that Eunice’s divorce threat was what finally broke the camel’s back.
“He follows my daughter everywhere she goes and beat her until he finally killed her that faithful day,” he added.

The suspect tried to flee after committing the heinous crime
After committing the heinous crime, according to Mr. Dwomoh, the suspect tried to flee but locals were able to catch him and severely beat him, saving him from being lynched. He made an appeal to the Ghana Police Service to make sure the suspect faces the full force of the law.
