After getting stabbed in Chicago’s Grant Park on Saturday night, one victim is in the hospital.
A 26-year-old woman was outside when a 44-year-old man allegedly approached her around 7:50 p.m. in the 110 block of South Michigan Avenue in the South Loop, according to the Chicago Police Department. After a fight between the two, the man stabbed the woman in the chest.
The man then ran from the scene but was caught by police and taken into custody.
The person was being taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police reported that one person is in custody, and that charges are pending.
A mile away from the Pride in the Park music festival, it took place. It didn’t seem to be connected.
To be safe in advance of the 52nd annual Pride Parade on Sunday, which will begin in the city’s Uptown neighbourhood and end in Lincoln Park, the police presence in the region was greatly reinforced at Grant Park amid all the pride activities taking place around the area.
