Rishi Sunak has stated that he is not disturbed by Sir Keir Starmer’s increasingly personal attacks.
The Prime Minister’s excessive wealth, according to the Labour leader, has made him appear out of touch with a country facing a crisis in the cost of living.
Additionally, Mr. Sunak has been the target of attack advertising from the opposition, which have sparked anger from within Labour because they imply he does not want to see child s3x predators put behind bars.
“I think we’ve moved beyond judging people by what’s in their bank account” Rishi Sunak
Speaking to reporters who were accompanying him on his trip to Japan for the G7 conference, Mr. Sunak claimed he had not “actually focused” or “seen all of it” regarding the assaults.
“These things generally don’t worry me. I don’t think most people sitting at home actually are much bothered about these things either,” the Prime Minister said.
“I think we’ve moved beyond judging people by what’s in their bank account. I think they’re interested in whether I’m going to deliver for them and their families.”
Akshata Murty, Mr. Sunak’s wife, who is accompanying him on their first official international tour since he took the No. 10 job, has also come under attack from Labour. They are currently in Japan.
They have made a connection between the benefit it provides the Prime Minister’s family and his failure to revoke the non-dom tax status his wife has had.
These things don’t concern me, Mr. Sunak remarked.
As a general election nears, disagreements between the Prime Minister and Labour are only likely to grow more heated.
Earlier this month, Sir Keir discussed the “anxiety and the shame” he had after his family’s phone was disconnected because they were unable to pay their payment.
“He’s a wealthy man – that’s good, I don’t knock that,” the Labour leader said of Mr Sunak.
“But it means that he doesn’t understand, he doesn’t know the anxiety that people are going through.”
