According to Russian military bloggers on Telegram, fierce fighting along the lines yesterday resulted in the death of a Russian major general in an airstrike by Ukrainian forces.
“As a result of an enemy missile attack, Major General Sergei Goryachev, Chief of Staff of the 35th Combined Arms Army, was killed,” said one military blogger Voenkor Kitten Z.
The rumours have not been confirmed by Ghent Multimedia.
In the ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has lost a number of army generals, including some of its most distinguished generals who have previously oversaw military operations in other regions of the world.
North Korea intends to send more weapons to Russia, warns US
After Kim Jong-un promised to “hold hands” with Vladimir Putin on strategic cooperation, a US State Department official said the US is worried that North Korea is preparing to provide more weapons to Russia.
“We are concerned that the DPRK (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) is planning to deliver more military equipment to Russia,” the spokesperson added, using the initials of the Korean nation’s official name.
The US confirmed North Korea had sent weaponry, including infantry rockets and missiles, to the Kremlin-backed Wagner mercenary force in November 2022, the state department official said, despite Pyongyang’s assertions that it had given weapons to Russia for its war in Ukraine.
The North Korean leader congratulated Mr. Putin on Russia’s National Day and called for “closer strategic cooperation” with Moscow, “holding hands firmly with the Russian president, in conformity with the common desire of the peoples of the two countries to fulfil the grand goal of building a powerful country,” according to KCNA.
The US claimed in March that Russia was actively looking to buy more weapons from North Korea in exchange for food assistance.
