A shooting early Sunday inside a Kansas convenience store killed a suspect and injured a police officer, according to Lenexa police.
Prior to the incident, Lenexa police stated they were looking for an allegedly stolen car. When officers discovered the vehicle, they discovered that the driver had struck a patrol car and escaped.
The vehicle was pursued by Lenexa police on Interstate 35 until two suspects got out and fled to a QuikTrip convenience store in Mission, Kansas.
When shooting erupted, officers from several agencies were attempting to apprehend the suspects. A suspect was shot and killed, while one officer was injured and sent to the hospital. Another suspect has been apprehended.
The culprits or the injured officer have yet to be identified by Lenexa police.
A Johnson County law enforcement unit tasked with examining officer-involved shootings is looking into it.
