President Joe Biden’s financial disclosure filings, which the White House released on Monday, showed that even though his book royalties decreased, the president’s personal income did not significantly alter from the previous year in 2022.
2022 saw a dramatic drop in Biden’s book income from $30,000 to between $2,500 and $5,000. According to the filings, he also made less than $3,000 from “speaking and writing engagements,” down from about $30,000 the previous year.
The financial information revealed that First Lady Jill Biden’s book earnings had decreased as well. She made between $5,000 and $15,000 in 2022 as opposed to between $15,000 and $50,000 from book sales in 2021.
The assets of the couple were estimated to be worth between $1.09 million and $2.57 million, according to the article.
They have a mortgage on their Delaware home worth between $250,000 and $500,000, in addition to additional debts of between $45,000 and $150,000.
The Bidens’ federal tax return, which was made public in April, revealed that the pair earned roughly $580,000 last year and had to pay an effective federal income tax rate of 23.8%.
As president, Biden makes $400,000 per year. English instructor Jill Biden made $82,335 from her work at Northern Virginia Community College.
According to their joint tax return, the rest of their income comes from investments interest, pensions, annuities, payouts from retirement accounts, Social Security, and a company that collects their book royalties.
