The actor Obinna Nwafor, commonly known as Saint Obi, allegedly died because he was never able to get over the trauma of his marriage ending, according to the prolific filmmaker Zeb Ejiro.
Ejiro claimed that Obi’s marriage was in trouble and that he was unable to cope with his separation anxiety. He was a devoted father who loved to spend time with his kids and run a happy home, but when his marriage fell apart, it affected him and he didn’t fully recover from the shock until he passed away.
When a man is away from his family, according to Ejiro, he will feel depressed, and no one wants to be happy in that kind of circumstance.
Ejiro claimed that Obi couldn’t handle the shock of living apart from his family in an interview with Vanguard. “Obi told me a couple of times that his marriage was crumbling and it was eating him up. He was a family man, somebody that loved to stay with his kids and build a happy home. But when his marriage crumbled, it really affected him and he never recovered from the shock till death.” When a man is not together with his family, he will be depressed. No man wants to go into that kind of situation and be happy. So, that contributed to his death”
Two weeks prior to his passing, Saint Obi called Ejiro and informed him of his protracted sickness, according to Ejiro. “Two weeks before his demise, my phone rang and it was Saint Obi on the other end. I asked him where he had been; that everybody had been looking for him. That was when he told me that he had been down and was admitted to a hospital. He added that he had done multiple surgeries and his condition wasn’t improving. His elder sister then made arrangements to move him to Jos, where he could be given proper treatment. That was the last time we spoke, as I promised to reach out to him again. But I never did, as the next thing I heard was that Obi is no more,” he narrated
Ejiro promised to get in touch with him once more, but he never did since the next thing he knew, Obi had died.
Actor Saint Obi had to give up acting and his friends, according to movie producer Zik Zulu Okafor, due of his marriage. He stated that his wife’s siblings had always thought of him as a “gold digger” because she was a top executive for a telecoms company.
The result was that the couple split up, and by the middle of the previous year, when the actor passed away, his health had started to deteriorate. The previous president of the Association of Nigerian Movie Producers was Okafor.
The 57-year-old renowned actor reportedly died on May 7 after being hospitalized for months to receive treatment for an undetermined ailment.
